Cabbage RowsDeep Roots Program
The DRP educates African American students about options for furthering their education while working in green industries around agriculture. It provides them on the farm summer training, scholarship preparation training and education for the 1890 Scholars grant, and internship opportunities. The program also provides a summer enrichment program that allows youth to work directly with African American Farmers to hands on experience with Agriculture, History of Agriculture in the African American Community, and farming.
The Program also works to bridge the generational gap and to teach youth today that agriculture is more than just working in dirt, it is preserving a heritage, while feeding you community, and is the orginal green job.
